We were very impressed with the drawings that Tim the owner created for us. They were so detail oriented & he answered all the questions that we had. We contacted 8 different companies in our search for the perfect deck. It was clear to us at first contact that Northern Deckworks was not like the rest. Tim listened to what we wanted and provided expert advice to help us design exactly what we wanted and within our budget.
We were also very happy with how well Tim’s crew blended the new deck onto our house. It does not look like an “add-on”, but instead like an original part of the house.

Tim and his team did a wonderful job. Lots of communication and updates, I never felt in the dark along the process. End result was better than i expected and you get what you pay for. I got multiple quotes from other places and NDW was a little more pricey, but I also got better (quality, service, transparency, etc.) so for me I was more then happy to pay up. Also through out the process i would ask questions and make recommendations and Tim would actually provide real feedback telling me it's a waste of money, doesn't make sense, or if something was a bad idea. He could of easily said yes and taken my money but he was providing real feedback to make sure i got the best product possible.

So, an Englishman and an Irishman were sitting in a bar! Sounds like a corny joke, right? Well this ended very differently. I met Tim while having a beer at a local brewery and we got talking about work, as you do. The next thing I know I'm signing a contract to convert my screened porch into a sunroom (did I mention Tim is a good salesman?). Seriously, Tim is very experienced and knowledgeable about his work having run this business for almost 40 years. He advised me about options and made suggestions, but never pressured me into anything. The work was arranged and performed very quickly and professionally. Shout out to Jason, who performed the work. This guy worked his socks off for the 2 days he was with me and his attention to detail and meticulousness were a sight to behold. I'm very pleased with the result and looking forward to the cooler weather so I can close the windows and have an "outdoor" space that is usable year-round. I highly recommend Tim and Northern Deckworks to anybody in Northern Virginia.

We recently wanted to put on a screened in porch to replace our current deck. We reached out to multiple companies and had three or four give us quotes. We are very impressed by the professionalism, drawings and detail provided by Tim, the owner. He made sure that all our questions were answered and that we were comfortable with the product we were going to receive. We are very impressed with the craftsmanship and professionalism we received during the installation and afterwards. Tim is really quick to communicate and make sure that everything is understood during and after the construction process. Cannot recommend Tim and his crew enough. We had Tim design and construct a beautiful three season porch, as well as a new deck, and flagstone two flagstone decks. The result is BEAUTIFUL. We joke that we have not spent one moment inside of our house since the project was completed. Tim is incredibly hands on and as a bonus, incredibly funny. Also - and most importantly - his crew is FABULOUS. They were always communicative, always on time, and the work was completed quickly and perfectly. We replaced our 30 year old wooden deck with a new, safe, code compliant wooden deck this summer. After reviewing several estimates, Northern Deck Works was the clear winner. Plus, I could see their quality craftsmanship every day, since they built our backyard neighbor's deck the year before. Easy to work with and Tim listened to what we wanted with a new deck design. I took care of HOA and Tim handled County permits. The work crew deserves six stars! They are superb craftsmen, hard workers, and clearly enjoy their work. Demolition and construction took about a week, the site was cleaned up nicely, and we started to show off our new deck to family and other neighbors! 100% satisfied.

We could not be more pleased with the screen porch Tim O’Neill designed and his Northern Deckworks team, led by John, built. Both functional and beautiful, Tim’s design is perfect for us. We opted for the EZ Breeze window system and a gas fireplace. This will enable us to enjoy our porch nearly year-round. As part of the project, we also replaced our front walkway and steps and back steps and patio with flagstones. Tim and the masonry crew solved a drainage problem that had plagued us for years.
From the outset, Tim and John kept us updated on the status of our job, permits, when deliveries would occur, when the crew would be on site, etc. The crew was respectful of our property, and the job site was clean every day when they left.
From the plans all the way through the final product, Tim insisted on quality – of materials and construction – and attention to detail. The result is very aesthetically pleasing. Everyone who’s seen the porch has commented on how it’s so much more than “just a porch.”
Tim’s artistic design has become a wonderful reality. We look forward to enjoying our Northern Deckworks porch for many years.

Tim and his Northern Deckworks team did a fantastic job in building our mahogany and cedar screen in porch and deck. The craftsmanship is top notch. We really like the EZ-Breeze window system. All you need to do is either slide the window down or up for great air flow. The screen keep all the bugs out. Our first appointment, Tim came by the house, took measurements and drew
the plans up. Tim was in regular communication with us during Covid, responded promptly to text and calls. Inform us the status of the built permits. During the initial built the crew came by 6 days a week, work long hours and they cleaned up nicely at the end of each day. The crew were always clear in advance if they would miss a day or two because they were awaiting for materials due to supply issues. Tim stay in contact during the duration of the project, informing us of any changes that came up as well as any delivery to the house. We highly recommend Northern Deckworks.

Northern Deck Works constructed my porch with the highest level of expertise and care. Tom O'Neil and the team at Northern Deck Works are true craftsman that only use the best products (cedar, mahogany etc) to custom build a porch that puts others to shame! The devil is always in the details and Northern Deckworks gets the details right the first time. From start to finish, this was a painless experience - Tim helped us design our deck and suggested additions that we hadn't even considered such as angling one side of the upper deck to better fit our terrain. His crew arrived promptly early each morning (weather permitting) and worked until after dark for 10 days to build our 635 sqft, two level deck. We are very pleased with the result.

I recently had a screened in porch built by Northern Deckworks during February and March. Despite the questionable weather conditions the project was finished in a timely manner and the end result did not only meet my expectations it TOTALLY EXCEEDED them. I originally hired Tim O'Neill and Northern Deckworks about 16 years ago to teardown my little deck and build a large deck, with a screened in porch, built-in benches and a surround for my hot tub. We loved the deck and used it often. 16 years later the deck still looked great. However it was time to remove the privacy fence and the hottub. I only called one deck company. Tim came out, replaced all the decking, plus built a beautiful flagstone patio. Northern Deckworks is the best in decks.
